I am writing! 🥳

Since breaking my duck with Yuletide 2023, I have written 7 fics (2 anonymous at the moment) in Master and Commander, Batman, Star Wars, Bridgeton, and original.

I currently have three WIPs I have actually posted the first parts of and am reasonably certain where I’m going with them…

My AO3 stats are amusing to me. Works in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, *crickets* 2023, 2024.

I have also signed up for [community profile] yuletide and [community profile] hlh_shortcuts 2024. Given that I haven’t written in Highlander for more than 25 years, and have never written in the fandoms I’ve offered for Yuletide, this should be fun 😬.

I’m going to challenge myself to a mininanowrimo of 200 words per day in Nov. I’ll join mini-wrimo on lj if they do a 2024 one🤞, or I’ll just challenge myself.

What are you writing in? Perhaps you could join one of those 👆challenges…

Hi. I came here via your consent issues bingo card, because you had some interesting prompts on yours. I'm mildly considering getting one for myself as well, but I haven't decided yet. Either way, it's always fun to see people who might have similar fic likes, even though I'm not familiar with your fandoms. Let's be honest, I'm not familiar with a lot of fandoms, really. Either way, would be fun to get to know you, if you want?

zimena: Snooker player Mark Selby (Default)

Oh, wow, really? Another Mark Selby fan? You don't even know how much my heart fluttered just reading that sentence. I love him so much now... which is wild, considering I used to be the absolute opposite of his fan for many years. (I was a Ronnie fan first. And I still love him a lot as well. No, falling for the rival was not something I planned to do, and I even fought it for a good few months ;)) Suffice to say, Mark is amazing and lovely, and a fantastic player to watch. Plus, I really admire and appreciate the personality he shows in his interviews, and his honesty about his mental health issues.

Seriously, I could go on for another two (or twenty) pages about him. My absolute number one favourite sports person right now.

You're right that snooker isn't "a thing" in Norway. I mean, not in the same sense as winter sports or football or team handball, which are the "popular" sports here. But also, Eurosport has been showing it for many years now, and I got used to it being on there. In the beginning I didn't keep track of when tournaments would be on, and I didn't really know anything about the players or anything, though. So I guess it's a sport that slowly got me, until I started following it more intensely.

Snooker is such a very UK thing, though. I love that it seems to be part of your "childhood sports" there - like, a sport that was just always there, that you'll know at least something about, regardless if you're into it or not. You're lucky that it's in your "culture", so to speak. I always find those sorts of differences so interesting; how there are some things that just become part of the "collective experience" of growing up in a certain place. And that's not just sports, of course, but also all those other things that are just obvious to you based on them being just naturally part of life from early on.

... but I'm rambling a lot already. I'll stop here, and go to add you instead :)
