Hi! This just popped up in my box, so I'm going to drop in & be opinionated - hope you don't mind!
SPN fandom is still amazing, there is a vast amount of great stuff being written in it all the time. And if you're tired of the same old pairings, there are new crackier ones to be found - allow me to recommend sassy_otp (sam/castiel). There are unicorns and rainbows! The quality of the show itself has been really uneven of late, but when they're on, they're on , and the angst is epic. I really am kind of OTP about Sam/Dean in spite of everything, and it's interesting to see them go through hard times and try to find their way back to each other. Though I totally understand why someone might give up on it :(
Also like to put in a plug for Sherlock Holmes. Probably worth it just for candle_beck's stories alone, but check out the activity on the Holmes sherlockkink. And while there is only the movie currently, there are years worth of TV shows, older movies, and of course the books themselves. People have been writing Holmes fic for decades, so the fandom goes deep even if it's not as broad. Here (http://liquidfic.net/Holmes_Watson.html) is a great round-up of links to older fics. I particularly recommend katieforsythe's - if at least one of her stories doesn't make you cry, then your tear ducts are probably defective!
Merlin's fun, and the fandom seems very active, but I find the show itself just a little too silly to really get into. Leverage is great, but I agree about the lack of intensity, and while Eliot/Parker/Hardison is fun, there's not a lot of angst potential. And Nate, as mentioned, is just too Dad-like to be really shippable for me.
Have you looked into The Vampire Diaries? I actually don't know much about the fandom, but the show is surprisingly good. It's super-soapy and kind of ridiculous in that special CW way, but appearances to the contrary, it is not actually "Twilight the Series". Yes, it features a high-school girl in love with a vampire, but she's not an idiot or a doormat. And there's a strong case that the primary relationship on the show is actually that between the (scorchingly hot!) vampire brothers. They have an incredibly strong love/hate bond, more than a hundred years of angst, a history of being in love with the same woman, and they frequently kill people for each other. Oh, and they have a distinct lack of personal space, as demonstrated in this (possibly spoilery) picspam (http://community.livejournal.com/salvatoreslash/1714.html#cutid1/). What more could you possibly want?!
I will go away and stop babbling long-windedly now.
